What is the meaning of the symbolism of keeping your wick trimmed in Matthew 25:7? Trimming means we keep the core of who we are, specifically our ego, small so that the flame of Holy Spirit can shine brighter, bringing attention to Christ, rather than to ourselves. Long wicks create a bulbous end that obscures the candle light. It also releases soot onto the glass container the candle is in which hides the flame as well. The soot that results from a long wick also pollutes the air. When we glorify ourselves and are boisturous in displaying our accomplishments, we dim the light of Christ. If you want to burn brightly for Jesus, tone down or "trim" your self-focus and illuminate the greatness of Christ in your life. ❤TLC❤ Proverbs 4:18 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC) 18 But the path of the [uncompromisingly] just and righteous is like the light of dawn, that shines more and more (brighter and clearer) until [it reaches its full strength and glory in] the perfect day [to be prepared].
